FES Boost! is a Virtual Reality game which assists patients at the Children's Hospital of Colorado undergoing Neurological Rehabilitation using FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation) Bike hardware. We are a small 4 person team with varying skill sets and experience working together on a VR Healthcare product we all deeply believe in. Over the last year and a half, trial and error, constant iterations, blood, sweat and tears have led us to a version of the game we are now about to beta test in the Hospital with real patients using FES bikes. It's an exciting time for the team! For more information about how the integration of the game and the bike work or for investment opportunity please contact me at: FourMilefox@gmail.com |

After designing and testing many 3D environments using Unity and 3D Studio Max my newest level, a WIP, is inspired by the first level of Sonic the Hedge Hog from my childhood, "Green Hill Country".
An inviting and fun world to be in which helps introduce the patients to the gameplay in a warm and positive way while encouraging exploration and movement! |
The very basic goal of the game is to encourage the patients to keep peddling on their FES Bikes at optimal speed which is necessary for successful rehabilitation. Through a mix of jumping, gliding and driving to explore the 3D world patients are engulfed in the experience and no longer feeling overwhelmed or anxious while they are connected to wires and sensors in a cold, sterile hospital environment. As patients peddle and progress real-time Bio-feedback is provided to a Nurse controlling the experience via a tablet computer. Peddling hard and reaching the needed speed allows players to jump and glide farther and higher.
